Shade!

Customized park shelter at Oscar Kristofferson park in Baxter, MN, includes kitchen facilities and electricity!

Shade is essential to play spaces! It keeps children and their caretakers safe from harmful sunburn, gives a cool place to take a break from the heat and allows observers to relax comfortably while still being able to watch kids play. Shade comes in a variety of forms; naturally from trees or surrounding elements or shade structures. St Croix Recreation is proud to offer hard-top park shelters from Coverworx and fabric shade options from Shade Systems. We have maintained a great relationship with both manufacturers and several of their products can be found throughout our state of Minnesota. These can be added as stand-alone options covering everything from benches and picnic tables to kitchens and outdoor classrooms to those that shade community pools, playgrounds and dugouts. Don’t take our word for it, here is the CDC’s recommendation: https://www.cdc.gov/cancer/skin/pdf/skincancer_parks-recreation.pdf

To learn more about our offerings, please visit the pages highlighting Coverworx, Shade Systems, or contact us to request a catalog or meet with a Project Manager about your space!

Volunteers Working

In continuation of St Croix Rec’s summer spotlight on the Greater Northern playgrounds we have completed in the past. These have been some of our favorite projects due to the kind people, stunning landscapes and FUN! If you’re in the area, check out the Adams Family Playground in Pequot Lakes, a generously donated structure completed with volunteer assistance. View more on this project here.
